MINISTRIES

"….Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me….." Matthew 25:31-40 (ASV)

As servants in the Kingdom of God, we, Body of Christ Family Church, strive for excellence and thus have established ministries to build on the foundation of Jesus Christ to bring souls into the Kingdom of God and back into a loving and right relationship with Him. Each servant serving in ministry strive to accomplish this via various ministries that lead by example, teach, mentor, counsel, evangelize & reach out to the lost. Our passion is to show the love of Christ and spread the knowledge of His goodness in the earth to as many as we can.

Double W.O.W. Women's Ministry

OUR MISSION & PURPOSE
at Double W.O.W. Women's Ministry

THE MISSION : Double W.O.W's mission is to transform and equip women and girls to fulfill God's destiny for their lives.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE : Reaching women through the transforming power and love of Jesus Christ. Discipling women to follow Christ's example and live overcoming lives. Building wholeness and balance, both spiritually and mentally, through consistent prayer and study of God's Word. Providing an atmosphere for women to develop their gifts, abilities, and lasting relationships. Training women to find their places of ministry and effectively touch their world for Christ.

Double W.O.W. to be precise, is an acronym for Women of Wisdom~Women of Wealth.
Personal experiences, and those of others, made Pastor Thelma aware of the importance of, and need for, support and encouragement, motivation and stimulation in the areas of self-awareness, family, finances and small businesses from the CHURCH and not the governmental systems. She wanted to teach to others what she had learned in hopes that a new cycle would be perpetuated to women, as opposed to the ever-present cycle of welfare. “That need,” she is quoted saying, “Is what I wanted to address.”
Pastor Thelma is a woman of integrity, fairness, experience, wisdom, humility, and so much more who has a heart for people and can be found trustworthy to listen to any who may need to pour their heart out. She passionately admonishes all to put God first in everything, and lovingly stresses the importance for mothers to take care of their children with a watchful/careful eye. She welcomes all who may have such needs, similar and perhaps current experiences, such as hers to know that at the Body of Christ Family Church, we are just that – a family; where one can belong, feel at home, develop personal relationships, receive love,
support, understanding and encouragement that is needed to triumph and endure, all while learning of and being immersed in the awesome love of God our Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth, giver and sustainer of life, through the uncompromising Word, His Son Jesus Christ!
Inspired by God

Pastor Thelma Grate
- a child of God, a servant, a wife, a mother, a friend, a helper - was born in Kaufman, TX to Harold and Thelma Moore. She relocated to Dallas at a very young age, and attended church regularly with her mother/family.
Growing up in the Holiness/Pentecostal church, she witnessed her namesake and Aunts work faithfully serving God’s people. Pastor Thelma candidly shares, that although she was reared in the church and saved, she did not live the life of one saved until young adulthood/her young adult years. City of Refuge COGIC in Dallas is where she was planted when the transformation began. Through many challenging life experiences (i.e., her first marriage) she cried out to the True and Living God, and the miraculous work was done on the inside which manifested itself on the outside – equipping her to live the life before all men. For a better portion of 10 years,
Pastor Thelma found herself a single parent to 4 children and gained even more pearls of wisdom concerning life, the difficulties therein, and overcoming! By the time she married the servant of God, Apostle Billy Grate, and began serving alongside him as Co-Pastor of the Body of Christ Family Church in Red Oak, she was impregnated with the desire to empower women to help themselves, who could then turn around and help other women; and thus W.O.W. was born.

Men's Ministry
Billy Grate - Coordinator

The Men’s Ministry of “The Body” (Body of Christ Family Church) is dedicated to helping men to be the godly men that God has called them to be. The focus is to prepare, teach, and equip spiritual leaders for the last day’s harvest of souls. Most important is encouraging men to take their place as head of their households and to serve God and their families and to be a godly example to their wives, children, and all whom they encounter.

Most importantly we are mindful to live and walk circumspectly before our young boys so as to teach and mentor them in the ways of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Today’s boys are tomorrow’s men of God.

'IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH'
Lisa Acholonu, Coordinator

John 4:23-24 states, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

This ministry is made up of a team of worshipers (Dancers, Flags, Ribbons, Tambourines, Drama, Mime, and Steppers) leading praise, piercing the darkness, proclaiming victory, and ushering in the presence of God that His train will fill the temple and that our Lord and Savior will be glorified.

Evangelism & Outreach Ministry
Tara Jernigan, Coordinator

We believe that the ultimate purpose of life is to know and glorify God and to attain eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, beginning within our own families and then reaching out to a suffering humanity that needs to embrace His love and sacrifice.

As lovers and followers of Jesus Christ, we believe that one of the most important things we can do as Christians is to respond in obedience to Christ's command to

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations" (Matthew 28:19).

We are called and commissioned by Christ to be witnesses of the good news of the gospel so that as the waters cover the sea, the entire earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord and that all mankind know that JESUS SAVES!

Social Concerns
ABORTION

Looking For Answers?
A decision made together with God
Some situations are not clear-cut at all, and not all abortions are carried out for “selfish” reasons. Here it is completely necessary to have a personal connection with God. This means being fully tuned to God’s will and directions, even if they go against one’s own will and reasoning – and based on that, be responsible for one’s own decision. All that is done must be done by faith – faith in and obedience to the Almighty God, the giver and taker of life, the righteous Judge, who has an unfathomable love and care for each individual and a divine purpose for each life – for the mother, the unborn child and any others involved. Any decision made together with God is a matter between those concerned and God, and here other people cannot pass judgment.

So what is a Christian view on abortion? Christianity is based on faith in the Almighty God, and in His creating power, both in natural and in spiritual things. The Bible, being the Word of God, is the basis for how we conduct our lives. Our trust is in God, the Almighty Creator, who knows all things – also the lives of those yet unborn. We, His creation, are called to live before Him in reverence and awe, with full, unwavering faith in His boundless love, goodness and wisdom. Any decision made with God brings rest and peace. We believe that many lives would have been spared if God had been sought before these decisions were made.

Family Crisis & Bereavement Ministry
Terry Harris, Coordinator

BEREAVEMENT ~ will be there when someone experience the passing of a loved one. After being notified, we will go into prayer for the family and follow up with a telephone call. We are here to be an example of JESUS CHRIST for the word of God says,

“Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted”. Matthew 5:4 (KJV)
FAMILY CRISIS ~ is here to assist when a family is faced with an unexpected situation that upsets the normal functioning of the family. Many stresses come with an unexpected economic situation, community situation, life events, and natural crisis. God uses his people to help those in need:

“Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, BUT whoever is kind to the needy honors God.” Proverbs 14:31 (NIV)
Purpose: To visit those hospitalized. Matthew 25:26 “I was sick and you visited me” Mission: To bring physical and spiritual encouragement to those confined, their families and friends. Foundational Purpose: Most of Jesus’ ministry was one on one. Foundational Scripture:

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. " James 5:14-15
